Domain Name
is the website address by which a user can easily search any website on
internet. However any website on internet is searched by its IP address that is
uniquely indentify the website. Since these IP addresses are too long to
learn by the human beings, domain names are discovered.
You can use
combination of letters, numbers for creating a domain name. You may purchase
domain name with various extensions like .com, .in, .co.in, .edu, .gov,
….etc.
You usually
see any website in the format http://www.example.com . In this format “example” is the
domain with “.com” extension. You have to register for a domain name
that is unique. It is never possible to have same domain name of two different
websites.
If user puts
any URL in the address bar from the browser, he/she will reach only to the
website of that URL. You also have to purchase hosting server to host your
website/blog.
But if you
are using “Google Blogger” or WordPress Blog you never need to purchase
hosting. For these blogs, you need to purchase domain names.
Google
Blogger’s default domain name is “example.blogspot.com” and for
WordPress default domain name is “example.wordpress.com”. You may also purchase
your own domain name.

Various website
hosting providers are there to provide cheap domain and hosting like
Godaddy, HostGator, BigRocks,…etc. You may purchase domain name in the
price range $8-$15 depending on the extensions you want for your website.
I never
prefer free domain and hosting services because they are not secure and
reliable. To avoid any kind of further obstacles in your business don’t go for
these kinds of domains and hosting.
You should purchase
domain for long term. Reason, a domain for more than one year or two is
cheaper than that of quarterly or half yearly.
Why
should I purchase Domain Name?
This question
may arise on most of beginner’s mind. If you have recently posted any content
to your Google’s Blogger, it will never have a professional look until you give
your blog/website a domain name.
Having a domain
name to your blog causes more users’ credibility and lots of visitors will
take interest to come to your blog. This way domain names play vital role to attract
lots of traffic to your website and blog.
Default names
are not user friendly too. Purchasing an easy domain is better for you
as well as for the interested readers to visit your blog many times.
